(March 29) from Alexis Ahrens

Our new Yahoo! group is a great way to share ideas, ask questions and network with other PWSD members between meetings. For example, if you have a burning question about book promotion that’s keeping you up at night, you don’t have to wait until the next meeting to hunt down someone you think can help you. Instead, you can just send an email to pwsd@yahoogroups.com. Everyone in our group will see your request and have an opportunity to respond with their insights, experiences or resources. It’s a nice way to easily help one another and build positive relationships.

To join, just log on to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/pwsd and follow the prompts to join the group. If you don’t already have a Yahoo! account, you’ll need to set one up, but that’s pretty fast and straightforward.

My book JUST FINE: Unmasking Concealed Chronic Illness and Pain was awarded first place in the Health/Medicine/Nutrition category of the Independent Publishers Book Awards. In the past, I have received the Channel 10 Leadership Award for my service in the San Diego community. My book website: www.writefaceforward.com discusses this current publication and my work with those living with easily concealed chronic illness and pain. Free coping tips are available via the website.

(February 2)  Also from Carol Svelich

We are currently working on a follow-up book project in the same format as the first book in the JUST FINE book series. This new resource will profile men and women who live with various mood disorders and will offer coping tools, resources and case studies. If you or anyone you know has one or more of the disorders mentioned below and would be willing to respond to a short questionnaire via email and/or be profiled in the book, please contact us at: writefaceforward@Yahoo.com

More representation of men are needed at this time. We'd also welcome the input of mental health professionals such as social workers, psychologists, therapists, etc.. Disorders that will be represented include: clinical depression, generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety, panic disorder, attention-deficit disorder, phobias, obsessive-compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder and sleep disorders. If you are a mental health professional who works with those challenged with mood disorders, we would appreciate your input as well. Please contact us: writefaceforward@yahoo.com

(January 2) To PWSD from Tim Barger

I'm very happy to announce that Discovery! The Search for Arabian Oil by Wallace Stegner was selected for the IPG Small Press Distribution Program. I owe it all to Andrew and Paulette in the first place for all your work on PWSD as well as your encouragement to look into the program. PWSD has made all the difference as Carolyn Fox, Ellen Goodwin, and Karla Olson have all contributed to the title and without them and the group in general I would still be clueless. There is a lot of work still to be done, but thanks to you Selwa Press is well on its way to a decent shot at success.
